The latest UK health survey shows that nearly 60 per cent of women aged 35 or over in the UK report that they suffer from some form of female sexual dysfunction.
A new survey, commissioned by Boots, found that nearly 60 per cent of women aged 35 or over in the UK reported that they had some form of female sexual dysfunction.
This prompted Boots to seek an explanation for its decision to the survey.
In the results of the survey, which followed more than 5,000 UK women aged 35 or over, nearly 60 per cent said they had experienced some form of female sexual dysfunction. Only around 10 per cent of the respondents reported this in the survey, and just under half (23 per cent) said they had not experienced it previously.
Boots said it understood that the survey was designed to help support female sexual health, but that it had to be conducted in consultation with a GP.
“We want to ensure that we have information that can be translated into clinical use, so that women who are considering this may find this useful,” Boots said in a statement.
It added that it was working to provide women with tools and information which can be used by others, including the NHS, to help them develop a personalised treatment approach for female sexual dysfunction.
The new survey was conducted from 2pm to 3pm on 29 November, and will be presented in the Boots Primary Care Trust, Boots Clinic, Boots Online, and the Women’s Sexual Health Forum.
